Floral Green, aka “Big Red”, departed life on, Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Floral was born on, August 13, 1950, in Augusta, Arkansas to the union of Searcy L. Hamm and Jessie Green, Sr. Both parents preceded her in death, along with one son, Jermaine Green; 2 grandsons, Joe Theus, and De’Anthony Clemmons; 3 brothers, Jessie Green Jr., Manuel Green (Zettie), and Leroy Green; 3 sisters, Carolyn Green, Vera Hall, and Louvina Spears.
Floral was baptized at an early age at St. Luke’s Baptist Church in Augusta, Arkansas. Floral attended Carver High School in Augusta, Arkansas, and moved to KCMO at the age of 18. Floral was employed at Marriott for 20 years and later changed careers and was working for Stinson Morrison for 22 years as a Hospitality Specialist at the time of her death.
Floral was a loving mother to all her daughters and grandkids. She loved visiting her family, going shopping, and keeping busy.
Floral leaves to cherish her phenomenal memories: 4 daughters, Vernita Green, Teresa Jackson, Leresa (John) Oaks, and Wendy Green, all whom reside in KCMO; 6 granddaughters, Laeisha Green, Cameisha Duren, Tekela Smith, Dearra Henry, Destinni Henry, and Desiree Henry; 4 grandsons, Maurice Theus, Reggie Custard, D’Andre Smith, and Tevin Campbell; 5 sisters, Rose Hall of KCMO, Shirley Harris, and Gwendolyn Garner of Rochester, New York, Martha Dobbins, and Dorothy Briscoe of Cleveland Ohio; a best friend Socorro (Corey) Ryan; and mother figure to, Melissa Beckman, Stinson family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
