W. C., Cartwright, Sr., 88, passed away on August 25, 2023, at Centerpoint Medical Center, in Independence, MO. He was born on November 2, 1934, in Macon, TN to Anthony Cartwright and Jolly Yancy. He grew up in Macon, TN.
W. C. attended Pain Elementary School in Macon, TN and forwent further formal education to go to Kansas City, MO.
W. C. first worked at Burberry Ford Dealership. He then went on to work at the Icehouse before joining General Motors where he worked for 32 years, having retired in 1988. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying both the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. He also played semi-pro baseball. He was a great bid whist and domino player. He loved to play horseshoes and was a self-proclaimed master of the barbecue pit. He loved to dance and hangout with his friends. He always kept his automobiles clean.
He was known for carrying his “gold cup”, sometimes known as, “gold cup carty.”
W. C. belonged to Maranatha Worship Center in Kansas City, MO for over 70 years.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his children, Bryan Cartwright, Stephen D. Cartwright, W. C. Cartwright, Jr., and Ladonna Cartwright.
