Terether Coleman Obituary

Terether (Carter) Coleman closed her eyes on Saturday, September 19, 2020 and went to be with the Lord with her daughter by her side. Terether was affectionally known by all as Teresa.  Teresa was born on July 22, 1934 to Samuel and Adlener Carter in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. She left Mississippi in 1961, and moved to Kansas City, Missouri to pursue a new career and further her education.  She worked for GSA and retired after 20 plus years of dedicated service.

Teresa was a dedicated and faithful member of Rising Star Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas.  She devoted her time and talent to the Family and Friends Choir until her health caused her to worship closer to home. Teresa later became a member of Hope for the Life Church in Kansas City, Missouri.

Teresa was a true community mother and grandmother for many in her community throughout her lifetime.  She enjoyed reading and learning new things, as well as music, dancing, and entertaining.  She loved and enjoyed life, being with people and she had a great love for helping others.  She never met a stranger and was a blessing to many.  Through her numerous health issues, she fought a good fight, she kept the faith, and stayed in the race until God called her home.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Adlener Carter; her husband, Paul Edward Coleman, Sr., sons, Paul Ed, and Frederick Coleman; her daughter, Alice Mae (Coleman) Crosby; her brother, Nathaniel Carter; and her grandson, Braxton Coleman.

She leaved to cherish her memories her children, Paul Edward Colman, Jr., James Ed Coleman (Deidre) of Miami, Florida, John L. Coleman, Lena Mae (Coleman) Reliford (Mark); her brother Samuel Carter; her sister, Ida B. (Carter) Griffin (Lawrence C. Sr.); her special daughter, LaShawna Judon; and a special friend, Frank.  She will be greatly be missed but fondly remembered by her 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, many friends, and extended family members.  She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
