Sherry West Obituary

Sherry Anice West was born on May 29, 1947, to William Alfred Lane, and Lula Valre Harris Lane. She graduated from Central High School, and then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Lincoln University.

She loved to work and did so all of her life with 38 years of government service, as well as, heading her own catering service, Lady West Catering Service.

She held strong passions for singing, dancing, and cooking, but most of all, she desired to be present for others no matter the cost.

She was a lifelong member of Wabash Ave. Church of God where she devoted a lifetime of servanthood to the Lord.

By submitting to the Lord’s will for her life she tirelessly served a community that reached far beyond what eyes could see, hence earning the name, “Mama Sherry”.

From secretly committing countless acts of charity to open ministry such as: Friday Night Fellowship, at Wabash Ave. Church of God, she was a true beacon of light showing us why a mother’s love, A.K.A. Mama Sherry, will never be forgotten.

Sherry was preceded in death by: her husband, Alexander George West I; father and mother, William A.B. Lane and Lula V. Lane; sisters, Shelia R. Lane, Stephanie B. Cooper, and Sandra Osborne; stepdaughters, Erica Lynn West, and Alisandria G. Davis; and stepson, Alexander G. West Jr.

She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory: her sons: Christopher (Chris) West, and Alex “Walker” West (Joy); daughter, Alexandra “Finger” West- Harper (David); grandchildren, Elliott Dunn II (Anastesia), David Harper II, and Alyssa Anice West; great-grandchildren, Emya Dunn, Earie Anice Dunn, Zoey Anyiah Harper, Elyssa Anice Dunn, and Zoey Dunn; one adopted daughter, Michelle Parker; stepdaughter, Zandria West; stepson, Anthony “Tony” West; sisters, Sonya Singleton, Shelley Grant, Sylvia Bryant (Charles) Susan “Simone” Udeh; special cousin, William Harris, Jr “Billy Boy”; 19 step grandchildren; 34 great step grandchildren; and one great- great step grandchild; special friends, Dorothy Wimbush, Dorothy Matthews, Barbara White, Henrietta Moss, and Brenda Willis, Hattie Speed; and a host of other relative, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
