Sarah Lucile Cubit was born on June 9, 1926 to Leonard and Fannie Williams in Kansas City. Missouri. She was the oldest of four children. Her last day on this side was September 14, 2020 at her home.
She was educated at Charles Sumner Elementary School and R.T. Coles High School. She was employed by Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store for many years. She also worked at Bob White Manufacturing CO., where they made clay pigeon/skeet shooting targets. She worked there for many years until the company relocated out of town. Then she retired. She was united in marriage to Daniel Lee Cubit on September 30, 1967. He passed away on May 16, 1997.
She was baptized as a child by Pastor Preston Allen, Sr., at Macedonia Baptist Church where her parents attended. Later she became a member of Welcome Baptist Church, Pastor John Richardson, along with her children.
She became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at the 27th street location. She was in the march with the church from 27th street to the new church at 3001 Cleveland in Kansas City. Missouri in July 1975. She served on the Usher Board. She was very dedicated and loved serving the Lord. She looked forward to giving the welcome to the visitors. And if anyone needed a mint, they knew Sis Cubit was the one to go to. After serving for many years on the Usher Board, she had to give up her position due to health reasons, but she continued going to church. She loved serving the Lord. After a while she was unable to attend church due to her failing health.
Her favorite things to do was cooking and she made sure any and everyone was welcomed to eat. She spent many hours putting together her jigsaw puzzles. She loved getting up early in the morning and sitting on the porch, drinking coffee and listening to gospel music.
All throughout her sickness, she never complained. She was more concerned about others and how they were doing and if they were alright. And on her good days, she would always show that beautiful smile that she was known for. Her simple pleasure was eating her Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, and suckers after every meal, and in between.
