Ms. Sarah Anne Canady passed away on the morning of February 24, 2021, at the age of 78.
Sarah, affectionately known as ‘Tul’ by her family, was born in Sikeston, Missouri on December 30,1942. She was the youngest child born to the union of Ollin and Lauretta Canaday. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Laura Mae Pryor, and her brother Loyal Canaday.
After the passing of her father, the Canaday family relocated from Charleston, Missouri to Kansas City, Kansas. Sarah attended Sumner High School. She was the proud mother of Lauretta Brown, her only child. She moved her daughter and mother to Kansas City, Missouri.
Sarah was an extremely hard worker. Sometimes holding down two jobs to take care of her family. She retired from Faultless Linen after 40 years of service. At the time of her passing, Sarah was employed by PAE.
Sarah loved to spend time with her family and friends. She found joy being around her great-grandsons. She said they kept her young at heart. She also liked to travel especially to her family reunion. She was big on family. She loved her garden and her little dog Snowbelle. More than anything, Sarah loved the Lord and going to church. She had a passion for telling people about the Bible.
Sarah accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at St. John AME. She would later attend Faith Mission Church of God and Christ where she served on numerous committees. As time went on, the Lord led her to Calvary Church.
Sarah leaves to cherish her warmth, wisdom, and love for her only child Lauretta Brown; her sister: Anna Lee; special niece Jacqueline (Chris) Cobb; her greatly beloved grandchildren: Tiffany, Michael, and Elisha Jones; great-grandchildren: Jay’Shaun, Jacey, Jaylen, and Amare Jones, all of Kansas City, MO.; and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
