Sabrina E. Williams

May 30, 1960 ~ May 24, 2022 (age 61)

Obituary

Sabrina Estelle “Bre’” Williams was born on May 30, 1960 in Kansas City, KS to Calvin and Emma Jean Williams.  She was raised as the second child, of four,  in her family, with her step father, Sherman Fisher playing a key role in her upbringing.

She was educated in the KCMO school system; graduating from Southeast High School , Class of 1978, where she lettered in varsity basketball and track.  She attended Penn Valley Community College.  Sabrina worked in the health facilities management and security fields beginning with St. Luke’s Hospital (Plaza), in 1981, for ten years. Her last position was as director of security and facilities for Planned Parenthood of Kansas/Missouri where she served for 16 years.

Sabrina maintained a number of passions outside of her career which blended service (volunteered for organizations such as Freedom Inc., AIDS Walk KC), sports (played softball. lifelong Chiefs and Royals fan.), the arts (talented sketch artist, painter), and support of her LGBTQ community that she blossomed in.  Dear to her heart was the time she spent as part of the Bar Natasha family where in addition to her role as security consultant Bre’ also gained notoriety for her vocal performances and stage charisma. Her signature song was “Summertime.”  She enjoyed cooking, and was an avid “foodie” and would take family and friends on culinary adventures throughout the metro area.

Faith and family were Bre’s foundation. She accepted Christ and was baptized at a very early age.  She grew up in the family church, Pleasant Green Baptist Church (KCK).  Her church home as an adult was Community Fellowship Church of Jesus Christ (KCMO) where she served on a number of committee’s and initiatives, notably, being a dedicated member of the funeral committee. Likewise, she served her immediate family and greater Lawson family with event planning and funeral arrangements.

Sabrina made her transition May 24, 2022, surrounded by family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents Calvin Williams, Emma Williams, Sherman Fisher, and her older brother Terry Wilkerson.  Sabrina Estelle Williams leaves to cherish her memories and legacy: her two sons: Jamel A. Williams and Glen Ray Brown II (Alissia); five grandchildren: Gianna Williams, Sage Williams, Glen Ray Brown III, Raelyn Brown, Campbell Davis; Sisters: Stacy Williams (KCMO), Karen Gaston (Indianapolis) Brothers: Byron Fisher (KCMO), Kelvin Williams, Reggie Williams, Michael Williams. Special mentions to  “Sister” Maurene Johnson; daughter in law, Holly Bitner, and cousin Antranette “Toni” Gayle; all who served as caretakers for Bre’ in her final years and all the young people in her life who called her “Gramby” or “Aunt Bre’.”
