Robert Cornell Tolbert was born November 11, 1978, in Kansas City, MO to Rosalind Tolbert and Daryl Gordon. Robert departed this life on May 11, 2022.
Robert was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Otis, and Rosa M. Tolbert; paternal grandparents, Burnett, and Eliza Gordon; daughter, Beautiful K. Tolbert; best friend and mother of his children, Angela “Renee” York; brother, De’Andre E. Tolbert; aunt, Carol Britt; uncles, Robert Jones, and Melvin Tolbert; cousins, Tiwana Britt, Mickell Tolbert, DeJaun Gordon, Devon Nolan, and Gary Nolan.
Robert attended The Rock Church but would also visit Pleasant Green Baptist Church with his mother and family where he accepted Christ at an early age.
Robert attended elementary, junior, and high school in Kansas City Missouri School District.
Robert, affectionately called “Nell” by his family and friends, loved to spend time with his daughters and the rest of his family. Nell never missed the opportunity to get dressed up and wear one of his many colognes. He also would debate with anyone about how good his beloved Kansas City Chiefs was against any other team.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Dajanea Courtney, and Ma’Rojanea Tolbert, both of KCMO; parents, Rosalind and Rickey Hampton both of KCMO; Daryl and Pumlan; both of Des Moines, Iowa; grandfather, Robert Gibbs of KCMO; sisters, Tina Tolbert-Howlett (Marvell), Tasha Jefferson (Donell) all of KCMO, and Tanika Jackson of Columbia, MO; brothers, Daryl Patterson, Ricky Hill (Quria), and Maurice Hill all of KCMO; special love, Michelle Peppers of KCMO; nieces, Ta’Riyah Howlett-Tolbert, Marriyah Howlett-Tolbert, of KCMO, and Ly’Niah Tolbert of Phoenix, Arizona; special cousins, “M7 Crew” and “6021 Crew”; best friend, Jeffrey Byrd, all of KCMO and a host of relatives and friends.
