Phyliss Morrison Obituary

Phyliss Marie Morrison was born September 9, 1944 in LaCygne, Kansas, the 3rd child of Alice Marie and Willie Dixon. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Larry Morrison; her brothers, William and Aaron Dixon; and her sisters, Helen Anderson and Shirley Lee.

Phyliss received her education in the Kansas City, KS school district, graduating in the class of 1963 from Sumner High School. She went on to receive her cosmetology license and did hair for several years. She also worked as a pediatric physical therapy assistant. She was employed with the Social Security Administration for 31 years retiring in 1999 to care for her ailing mother.

Phyliss accepted Christ at an early age as a member of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life she joined Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R.C. Higgs. She continued her membership at Bethel under the leadership of Rev. Nathan Jones until her passing.

Phyliss was united in marriage to her late husband Larry Morrison on February 6, 1965. To that union two daughters Latrise and Camille were born.

Phyliss departed this life on Earth, January 2nd, surrounded by her loving family to begin her eternal life with heavenly Father and to reunite with her husband, parents and siblings.

Phyliss leaves to cherish her love and memory two daughters, Latrise Morrison and Camille (Crystal) Morrison both of Kansas City, KS; two granddaughters, Alicia (Rodney) Cunningham and Crista Jackson; one grandson Eric Verner, Jr; four great-grandsons, DeShawn, Keyvon, JaiVaughn and Amarion; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Morrison; one special nephew, Delmas Williams, Sr; two special nieces, Yolanda “Lynn” Lane and Aronda Babers, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
