Peggy Joyce (Leathers) Davis, 78, of Kansas City, Mo., died November 1, 2019. She was born March 19, 1941 in Boonville, Mo. Her parents were Delmar E. & Delores L. (Prior) Leathers. She grew up in Boonville and graduated from Boonville High School in 1959. She spent the best year of her life away at Bible College in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. She returned home and started working full time.
Peggy was united in marriage in 1963 to Larry Francis Davis. To this union one daughter, Janelle Elaine (Davis) Montgomery was born in 1965. They divorced in 1970 and four years later she found herself and her son, Leonard Blaine Davis born 1971 by Leonard Blaine Crum Jr., living in Kansas City with Leonard’s sister, Bertha Annalee (Crum) Yates. Planting roots in K.C. for the remainder of her life it came to bear one more child, Brandon DeLane Davis in 1980 by Burrell Shadlow.
While in Kansas City P.J. worked at Resource Development Institute (RDI), formerly known as Kansas City Mental Health Foundation. She started as an accounting clerk and retired as Chief Financial Officer after 35+ years of service.
Grandchildren had her deepest love and were her most valued precious treasures. She enjoyed Jazz (sax in particular), the trees in the fall, and exploring untraveled roads. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, and always had her hand and heart on the Good Book. Her nightlife activities consisted of, bowling leagues, and the occasional Bid Whist parties. In the later years, it was dinner out with the girls, quiet nights with the QVC/HSN channel a book and a bowl of pecan pralines and cream ice cream
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Trevon M. Jones, sisters Judy Scantlin, Nancy Cook, & Earlene Green.
She leaves to mourn: her children, son in law Corey C. Montgomery, grandchildren Breonika C. Davis,27, Devioun S. Foskett,18, Matthew C. Montgomery, 12, Braydon D. Davis,12, one great grandchild Kapri C. Petit,3, sisters Kathy Luchtenthaler, Linda Moore, a host of friends and family. Last but never least, close friend of over 30 years Gloria Joseph, sister from another mister and friend of almost 50 years Guyla Stidmon.
