Patrick Smith, Sr Obituary

Patrick Anthony Smith Sr.  61 years old, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 13, 2020 surrounded by his wife and daughter at his bedside.  He was born on July 14, 1959 to Willie James Sr. and Pearlean Smith. He was the youngest of seven children.  He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Willie James Jr., James Edward and David Smith.

Patrick was known by many names, his wife’s family as Tony, his Detroit family as Amp or Amp Ski, his kid’s family as Anthony, at Gumby’s Barber Shop as Mr. Patrick and his military friends as Smitty.

He graduated from Southeastern High School in Detroit Michigan in 1977.  Patrick joined the United States Army in 1984. He served a total of 14 years with 8 in regular service and 6 in the army reserves. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was last a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Patrick was employed at First Residential until his health started to decline. Patrick was an avid skater and two-stepper, were he enjoyed blending KC two step with Detroit’s two step. He enjoyed going to Gumby’s Barbershop hanging out with his friends.  He was a number one fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, without missing a game.  One of his favorite holidays was the 4th of July where he didn’t mind spending money on fireworks and spending time with his grandkids.  He led a full life enjoying family and friends and hanging out.

Patrick leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 17 years Deborah Smith; four daughters, Monique Woods (Teon), Danielle Morris of Detroit Michigan, Amanda McCall, Michelle McCall; two sons, Patrick Smith Jr, Tony Beard, two sisters, Phyllis Moore (Matthew Sr.), Sherry Giles (Tony) of Detroit Michigan; one brother Carl Smith of Grand Rapids Michigan; one sister-in-law Michelle Smith of Detroit Michigan; 13 grandkids, Darius Smith, Jaionna Smith, Xavier Mitchell, Teon Woods Jr, Teona Woods, Richard Johnson, Rickeia Johnson, Ernest Johnson, Kevianna Todd, Kayonna Todd, Kevin Todd, Danielle Morris, Kayla Morris; 3 great grandchildren, Kaylan, Kayden and Kater West; a special cousin/brother LeAndrew Harden and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
