Odell Hamilton, Jr. Obituary

Odell Hamilton Jr "Shug" was born on October 7th, 1948 in his grandparents house on Belleview in Kansas City, MO to Delores and Odell Hamilton Sr., the only [living] son of five children. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Phillis M. Hamilton Graves; nephews, Kevin D. Cullen II and Raymond N. Graves II.

Odell's early childhood was that of a typical family filled with fun, laughter, and above all else, love. As a child he was raised on Chestnut in Kansas City Missouri. Some of his hobbies included playing football with close friends on the block, Golden Gloves boxing, playing dominos and board games with his sisters, and enjoying the outdoors. He admired his mother so much, which he stated was the sweetest person he has ever met and was proud to be her son.

Odell was a Kansas City Resident for most of his life with a small stay in parts of Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1966 and attended Central Missouri State College for two years. He furthered his ambitions and graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1975 where he received his degree of Doctor of Chiropractic. This is where he acquired the nickname "Doc". Odell worked for the Santa Fe railroad for the greater part of his late teens, twenties, and thirties. He practiced his Doctor of Chiropractic for several years as well. And when he retired, did odd jobs here and there.

Odell was united in marriage to Mary A. Jedine (Parks) and to that union was born, Odell Hamilton III. Later in life, his marriage with Paula R. Jackson (Butler) brought more blessings of bonus children April D. Rollison (McCain), Nakisha R. Rollison (Hunley), and a daughter born of the union, Ashlee J. Hamilton (Baker).

He enjoyed time with his children, nieces, and nephews taking them on adventures to the lake, fishing, swimming, playing tennis, bike riding, Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun, Discover Zone, Chuck-E-Cheese, and many more.

Odell spent his later years loving on his grandkids, great nieces and nephews. He was the greatest father and an even greater grandpa. His grandkids never had to want for anything and when they called he came running.

Odell will always be known as a man that loved his family beyond any measure of time. He is greatly missed and loved by all.

Odell leaves to cherish his memories his children: Odell Hamilton III and Ashlee Baker; sisters: JoAnn Pitts, Carmon Hamilton, Jacqueline Cullen (Kevin); Grandchildren: Mahriah Baker, Jaden Baker, Kobe Baker, Noah Booth, & DestinyPayne, Nieces: Roshonda Musau, Rochelle Banks (Andre), Robin Briggs (Antjuan), Taylor Cullen; Nephews: Matthew Cullen & Hamilton Cullen: Great Nieces: Miquelle Swinton (Marquis), Precious Davis (Kevin), Amber Leonard, Imani Briggs, Brynlee Cullen, and Talia Brizendine; Great nephews: Auri Keen Ngui, Hamilton Cullen II, and Antjuan Briggs Jr.; Bonus Children: April McCain (Dominic) Nakisha Hunley (Ricky) an Uncle (Ramon), aunts, cousin, bonus grandchildren, and friends,
