Michael Alonzo Warren 74, passed peacefully on August 26, 2023, surrounded by his family at VA Hospital. He was born on January 28, 1949, to Diamond and Marcelete R. Allen-Warren Jr. in Kansas City Kansas. He was preceded in death by both parents and two brothers Gary Warren and Merlin “Ricky” Warren. Two sisters Cynthia Warren and Annie Faye Shepherd. One son Mazilah Warren.
Michael attended Lincoln and Manuel High Schools. He later received his GED in Alabama. He enlisted in the Air Force branch of the military from 1974-1978. He was very proud of his military service, so much so he attempted to get “everybody” to join.
Michael began working at the US Postal Service in 1979. He was a maintenance mechanic until he took an early retirement in 1997. After retiring he had an interest in trucks. At first, he just
drove the big rigs but went on to pursue his own business as an independent contractor with his own authority and named the company Greenboy Transportation. When he got tired of over-the-road trucking, he started a business in dump trucking with the same business name. He made a great living from both businesses.
Michael met his wife Anitra D Hooker while working at the US Postal Service in November of 1981. They later married on February 16, 1985, and to this union, four children were born that blended with his six older children. He was a loving husband and father who showcased his love through not only his words but his actions.
Michael accepted Christ at the early age of 9. Later in life, he joined Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Price Ellis in 1988.
Mike loved listening to music, playing cards, and talking trash about “everything”. He thrived on deep meaningful conversations about life. He was a wise man and gave great advice. He was always willing to help anyone. Mike was a motivator and encouraged others to have an optimistic outlook on life and not just be content with the status quo.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His loving wife: Anitra “Niecy” Warren; Five sons: Michael “Hollie” Smith, Keith Smith (Thais), Daryl Coleman, Adrian Coleman, and Mischa Warren; Five daughters: Kim Richard, Regina Hargrove, Arieal Warren, Alisah Martin (Kendall), and Amiris Warren; Four brothers: Diamond Warren III, Robert “Jeffery” Warren, Eric Warren, Edwin “Monte” Warren; Two sisters: Ronica Green (John L), Karen “Kandi” Warren-Nelson (Jerry); Father-In-Law Samuel Hooker, Mother-In-Law Ernestine Hooker, Brother-In-Law Dwayne Hooker; Three sisters-in-law: Naurita West, Jacquelyn Hooker, and Kimberly Hooker; 24 Grandchildren, 11 Great grandchildren, and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, and other relatives and friends.
