Mary Lee “ Maelee" Brown , 77, was born on January 26, 1943 in Drew Mississippi. She was one of twelve children born to Abner and Lucille Jenkins.
Mary received her call from the Lord on Thursday September 17, 2020 with her granddaughter Tamika Brown by her side and children close by. She was Preceded in death by both of her loving parents, her husband Jimmie Lee Brown SR. 6 sister and 4 brothers.
Mary met the love of her life Jimmy L Brown SR in Clarksdale Mississippi. To this union three sons and two daughters were born. Mary was blessed with three additional children, two daughters and one son whom she loved dearly as her own.
In 1980 , Mary and Jimmy along with their family relocated to Kansas City Mo. Their journey together lasted for 60 years until Jimmie departed from this world.
Mary gave her life to Christ at an early age. She remained a faithful servant throughout her lifetime. She was an active member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Roach in Clarksdale Mississippi until her relocation to Kansas City Mo.
Once relocated Mary joined in worship with her family at Straightaway Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Frank Flemon for 25 years until making the decision to follow the leadership of Rev. Dennis Honeycutt
In the fall of 2007, Mary opened her home to fellowship with Rev. Dennis Honeycutt as well as six other church members. This would be the beginning of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Throughout her years Mary held many positions in church, President of the Motherboard and the choir, Sunday school secretary, Mission board leader and in her early years overseeing the kitchen staff.
“Maelee” as she was so affectionately called. Always held her family close to her heart. She was the family babysitter, the go to person when you needed family information, or even when just needed someone to talk to when she was there. She would always instill in her family to trust in God, hold heartedly and family is love.
Mary’s memory will forever be cherished by her only surviving sister Miss Ollie Duncan, three sons Percy Jenkins of Mississippi. Anthony Jenkins, Dawn Brown (Sylvia), two daughters Annette Hurst and Cynthia McDonald (Lester) all of Kansas City Mo. Two stepdaughters Doris Williams and Lily Walters ( ML) one step son Jimmy L Brown junior ( Velma) fifteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. As well as nieces, nephews, close cousins, extended family and friends. Mary’s light will forever shine bright within us.
