On Friday, May 15, 2020, our Heavenly Father called his child, Linda Joann (Burns) Ferrell, home. She was a devoted wife, cherished mother, adored grandmother, beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Linda entered this world on March 13, 1957, in Dermott, Arkansas. She was the second oldest of four children born to the loving union of Sammie Burns and Jerline Burns. She was preceded in death by both parents. Linda accepted Christ early in life and held a deep love and strong devotion for her faith. She was a member of True Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Her formative years of education began in Dermott, Arkansas. Her family late relocated to Kansas City, MO where she completed her education, graduating from Lincoln High School.
In 1979, Linda married James Cole, together they lovingly raised their daughter Monee. Linda adopted her son Jeffrey in 1986. She later found the love of her life, her husband, Omar Ferrell. They celebrated 22 years of love together at the time of her passing. Linda worked at the Osteopathic Hospital in Kansas City. She later worked at Stone Container Company for several years. Eventually, she established her work career with Blount International Inc, retiring after more than 16 years of service.
Linda loved spending her spare time reading books. She held a strong belief in the power of prayer and sincerely enjoyed reading her Bible. One of her favorite hobbies
was shopping, she loved shopping with her granddaughter! One of her favorite holiday traditions was attending the annual Thanksgiving breakfast dance. Dancing was one of her great passions, she truly loved to dance. She enjoyed introducing this tradition to her son-in-law Keith, whom she adored and loved as if he were her own. Family meant everything to Linda. She took great pleasure in her role as grandmother to her five grandchildren and her great grandson. They loved her tremendously, just as much as she loved them.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband: Omar Ferrell of the home; one daughter; Monee Jones (Keith) of Kansas City, MO; one son; Jeffrey Tate, Jr. of Kansas City, MO; one brother; Sammie Ray Burns of Kansas City, MO; two sisters; Betty Hill of Kansas City, MO, and Barbara Reliford-Hunt of Springfield, MO; one granddaughter; Kelly Hunt; four grandsons: MoQuan McKelby, Treyvon Tate, Tyrell Tate, and Teyon Tate; and one great grandson: Mahkai McKelby.
