LeAndra Minor, Sr. Obituary

LeAndra D. Minor Sr. was born May 10, 1980, in Kansas City, Missouri to Laura Shelby and Ewing Minor, Jr.  In his early years, he attended various elementary schools throughout the Kansas City, Missouri school district. His high school career landed him at Grandview High School. It was there that LeAndre met Shawniece Cunningham.  To this pairing on June 25, 1997 was born his name sake, LeAndra, Jr. (Da’Da’). He enjoyed summer visits to the zoo and walks in the park with his son. LeAndra prided himself on being a self-made man. In the late 90’s he started working at Kmart.

After leaving Kmart, LeAndra found a work family at Babyland and Kids Rooms Furniture Store, for over 10 years. After Babyland he worked as a warehouse manager for several companies, most notably, Flowers Food Corporation. In 2000 LeAndra met Renee Huston. On March 1, 2001, Jazmine LaNay Minor was born.  The two later welcomed Jayde Elizabeth-Marie Minor, on July 27,2008. He enjoyed watching his girls dance, play sports, explore the outdoors with all his children, and listening to their musical concerts.

On April 9, 2015 LeAndra suffered a massive stroke. After a lengthy hospital stay and much rehabilitation, he beat all odds and fought to regain his independence and WON!! “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!”

His accomplishments included obtaining his General Education Diploma and attending classes at Penn Valley Community College. LeAndra’s biggest goal after his stroke was to be self-sufficient and live independently. As of October 2021, he was employed as a cashier in the food market at the Kansas City International Airport. He conquered it all. 

LeAndra’s greatest love was for is children.  He also had a great fondness for music, cars, anything electronic, and tattoos. He was a proud father who loved deeply.

LeAndra was proceeded in death by his uncle, Eddie Robinson; grandparents, Ewing Minor, Sr., and Rosalee Hopkins; great-grandparents, Theo, and Laura Grayson; cousin, Otis Gulley; and uncle, Sidney Peterson.

His memories will be cherished by his mother, Laura Shelby; father, Ewing Minor, Jr.; stepmother, Cheryl Minor; son, LeAndra Minor, Jr. of Arlington, Texas; daughters, Jazmine and Jayde Minor; brothers, Dante’ Minor (Courtney), Brian Shelby, and Sean Minor (MiToya); sister, Cloretta Strifler; grandmother, Cloretta Rosebrough (Norm) of Fairview, OR; aunts, Kimalee Peterson, Kenya Robinson, of Oregon, Dana Robinson, Sandra Greene (Merle) of Los Angeles, CA, Wanda Harris (Norman), Brenda Marsh, Stacie Minor, and Dana Minor; uncles, Michael Grayson, Calvin Gratts, Anthony Gratts, and Michael Minor; nieces, Micah, and Aurora; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
