Kent Byers Obituary

Kent Arnold Byers, 65, transitioned to heaven on July 17, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Kansas City, KS. He was born on June 20, 1955 in Kansas City, KS to Moses and Doris Byers. He was the first of five children born into this union. He also had an older brother and sister that his father brought into the union with Kent’s mother. He grew up in Kansas City, MO and was raised in a God-fearing household with strong family values. In 1973 he graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, MO and remained active with the Southeast Alumni. A few years after graduating he began a career with KCP&L as a Control Operator. During his tenure at KCP&L he also served as a Chief Union Steward with the Local 412 IBEW Union. After working over 25 years for KCP&L he retired due to health issues.  Kent was preceded into death by both of his parents Moses and Doris Byers and two brothers Willie Bell and Kevin Byers.

On February 14, 1981 Kent married Vera and they were married for 39 years. Kent bought two children Kent II and Mika into this union with him. To this union two children Brian and Ryan were born. Kent was blessed to have 10 grandchildren. He always believed in God and strong family bonds. Kent made sure to instill these same values in each of his children and grandchildren. He also made sure that he and Vera enjoyed their life together. His love for music and motorcycles led him to be an active member with the Zodiac’s M/C for over 30 years and would sometimes be the DJ for their club parties.
