Kenneth L Johnson Jr

Kenneth Lynn Cowser Johnson Jr “J.R.” was born July 29, 1988 to Lawana and Kenneth Lynn Cowser Johnson Sr.  He received his elementary education in the Pine Bluff Arkansas School District. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rosehill Missionary Baptist Church (Pine Bluff, AR). After relocating to Kansas City, MO with his family he continued his education and graduated from the Hickman Mills School District. J.R. went on to receive his Associates in Computer Networking from ITT Technical Institute.  

In 2008 J.R. became the proud father of his first-born Kenya Johnson. In 2009 J.R. rededicated his life to Christ and in same year he met the love of his life Michelle McClinton, whom he later married. To this union 3 more children were born: India, London and Kairo Johnson.   

J.R. was a hard worker and had a passion for helping people in any way that he could. He served as a Pawn Broker/Assistant Manager for Cash Pawn America for 7+ years. He was a dedicated and great husband and thoroughly enjoyed fatherhood. He enjoyed doing as much as he could for his wife and his children. J.R. had a creative mind and pursued countless entrepreneurial endeavors. He also loved the holidays. Most of them he would be found spending time with his cousins, eating his momma’s cooking, or going to see his grandmother Lola at her nursing home.  

From the age of 2 J.R. had a very special bond with his stepfather Henry who was lovingly known to J.R. as “Dawg”. A great part of J.R.’s values and life lessons could be attributed to the many conversations, laughs, and personal concerts he and Henry shared.   

J.R. was preceded in death by: Father; Kenneth Lynn Johnson Sr. (Pine Bluff, AR), grandfathers; Tyrone Wilson Sr (Kansas City, MO), grandmother; Martha Pulling (Pine Bluff, AR), great grandmother; Gladis Cabine, uncles; Charles Jones Sr., Ernest Jones Sr., William Jones, grandfather; Freddie Cowser Sr., cousin; Andre Jones.

J.R.’s presence will be greatly missed; but his distinct voice, infectious smile and his laughter will be missed most of all.
