Julia Standifer Obituary

Julia M. Standifer was born August 25, 1952, in Lula, Mississippi to Willie & Lillie Lenair.

Julia attended the Coahoma County School system. Julia graduated from Coahoma Agricultural High School in 1972.

Julia accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in 1964.

Sis. Standifer united with Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in November 1973, under the leadership of both Dr. Wallace S. Hartsfield Sr. & Dr. Wallace S. Hartsfield II. Where she was a very faithful member serving in several ministries over a span of some 40+ years such as the First-Aid/ Health Awareness Ministry, Christian Workers Leadership Development Ministry, Music Ministry, Children’s Church, Sunday School, Drama Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Women’s Ministry. She brought an abundance of energy and power as she led the Children’s Church in singing for many years and as she served with true devotion many other ministries over the years. She also loved participating in the Drama Ministry and would readily accept any role she was given to portray with excellence. One of the most endearing and sacred ministry appointments bestowed upon Sis. Standifer while at Metropolitan, was her ordination to the office of Deacon, as she served with great joy and all sincerity. After many years of ministry, Julia transferred membership to the Life Changers Christian Center in 2008. Julia was the Children’s Ministry Choir Director, Sunday Day School Teacher, and served on the Women’s Ministry and Hospitality Team, Under the Leadership of Pastors Cleotis & Pamela Cobbins II.

Julia was also employed with General Motors Fairfax, in Kansas City, KS for 31.5 years as an inspector and retired in 2008.

Julia’s favorite hobby was shopping and traveling. Anytime you would try looking for Julia she would always be found doing one of those two things.

Julia departed this life on November 11, 2021, she was preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her only daughter Camesha Standifer; grandchildren Lorenzo Harrison & Tyrek Turner, Brothers Robert, Willie, LD, and Zerius Lenair, host nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her sister Jean transitioned just a few short days after.

Though her voice has been silenced for now, she will forever be remembered as one who entered the Lord’s gates with thanksgiving, and she always entered His courts with praise! She was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ! Her great joy and enthusiasm will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts.
