JoShawn Alexander Ricketts was born December 11, 1987, to Mary Morris and George Ricketts. JoShawn, a twin, entered the world almost thirty minutes after his brother. Even at birth he was determined to do things his way. JoShawn attended school in the Center and Olathe School Districts. JoShawn’s last place of employment was with Lyft. JoShawn loved electronic gadgets and could tell you anything you needed to know about a cell phone’s functionality. Most people didn’t know that JoShawn had an excellent memory. If he saw it once (no matter what it was) he would be able to repeat it in the sequence in which he saw it. JoShawn was the life of every family event. He loved his family and friends and would do anything for them if asked. JoShawn’s response to questions concerning what he was doing or where he was going would always be “do you want me to tell you the truth or do you want me to lie”. An example of how big JoShawn’s heart was – he once called a prayer meeting at Temple of Faith for his cousin whom he thought needed help navigating life. JoShawn was selfless and he lived life unapologetically!
JoShawn leaves to mourn his mother, Mary Morris (Frederick); father, George Ricketts (Raquel); one sister Shawnta Ricketts; four brothers George Ricketts Jr (Nia), Christopher Ricketts, Michael Ricketts, and Christian Ricketts; grandmother, Helen Green (Michael); one nephew Kingston Thomas; special cousins Sentaira Miller, La’Keisha Hines, Kandice Hines, Terry Hines and Damonta Johnson; a host of aunts, uncles, great-aunts; great-uncles; and cousins.
