John Terry Obituary

John W. Terry, 93, passed away on October 15, 2021 at his home in Kansas City, MO.  He was born on October 20th, 1927 in Terry, LA to John H. Terry and Nancy M. McIntyre.  He was raised in Oak Grove, LA and after high school he attended Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  

He joined the  U.S. Army in 1952 and served honorably until his discharge in 1954.  During his time in service, he was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  He achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant.

He began work for the US Post Office and later began work for the Ford Motor Company-Kansas City Assembly Plant in 1964.  He retired in 2002.

John was an avid fisherman, spending HOURS at the local lakes.  He was also a member of  the Roadrunners RV club.

John was preceded in death by both parents, four brothers, and two sisters. 

He was previously married to Lorraine H. Wesson who also preceded him in death.

John is survived by his loving wife, Roseland A. (Gail) of 54 years; his daughters, Cynthia Terry-Edd (Evester) of Silver Spring, MD, Dana Terry-Pettigrew (George), and Kimberly Johnson, of Kansas City,MO; and son, John Scott Terry (Kristian) of Leawood, KS; grandchildren, Devin Roberts, Chonte Woods, Kimble Terry, Reggi (Gigi) Johnson, George LT Pettigrew (Ciara), Jonathan Terry, Erin Johnson, and Kendal Terry-Edd; seven great-grand children, and numerous nieces and nephews.
