Joanne “JoJo” Louise Williams, 46, passed away on November 21, 2020 at her home in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born November 19, 1974 at the Osteopathic Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri to Eleanor Frances Glavin and Joseph Leon Figgins Sr. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and successfully completed her GED in 2004. She started her long and fulfilling career improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. She started out her career at Higginsville Habilitation as a House Manager. Then She went on to work for S&S Development as a Program Supervisor and Missouri Mentor (previously known as Independent Expressions) as a Program Supervisor for many years. She loved the work that she did and was loved by many of her coworkers and those she served.
Joanne met and later divorced, she was blessed and survived by her three beautiful daughters, Sequoia Brown, 27, Charlene Jones, 25 (Da’Ron) and Hope Williams, 23 (Ronald). Seven bonus children, fifteen grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Frances Glavin-Murray and Patrick James Murray. Her brother Joseph “Joe” Leon Figgins Jr. and Mindy Figgins. Grandmother Patricia Ann Glavin and three uncles, Lee Patrick Glavin, Kevin Michael Glavin Sr. and John Joseph Glavin Jr. Also, Taffy Smith, Stephanie Smith and Cynthia Mathin, three individuals she held dear to her heart and a host of other relatives and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends when she was not at work.
She was preceded in death by her Father Joseph Leon Figgins Sr., Sister Serenity Lynn Figgins, Grandpa John Joseph Glavin Sr, Aunt Candy Sue Glavin, and Nephew Jason Smith.
Joanne will be remembered for her big heart, her quick wit and her love of laughter. She was the type of person to literally give someone the shirt off her back, often opening up her home to others. A memorial service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home at 1101 E. Bannister Road Kansas City, MO 64131 on Saturday, November 28, 2020 starting with visitation at 4:00pm and service at 5:00pm. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of those who spent time with her and made an impact on her life. We will cherish the time we had with her as we carry her in each of our hearts, she will forever be missed.
