Janice Marie Kinney (Huston)

Janice M. Kinney(Huston) was born on August 15, 1956  to Mary Gorham and Russell Jerome Huston. She grew up in Marshall, MO in the loving home of Russell and Bea Huston.  Janice graduated from Marshall High School in 1974.  Directly after high school she attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO where she majored in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.  

While attending a year and a half at NWMSU, she met Matthew Lowe.  Out of this union was born Elizabeth Renee Huston.  She landed her first government job and began her civilian career in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, as a GS-2 Clerk Typist in 1978.  Throughout her 35 year career she has worked at several agencies within the Kansas City area in various capacities which include, Small Business Administration, HUD, National Weather Service, NOAA, and Department of Defense to name a few.

Janice married Robert Kinney in 1994 and to that union was born Seth Emmanuel Kinney.

In 2005, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she accepted a position as Accountant with the Department of Education's Federal Student Aid(FSA).  She remained there until June 2007, where she was promoted to Accountant, GS-14 at the Coast Guard Headquarters, Transpoint Building. There she worked as a FBWT Desk Officer until she transferred to USCG PPC in Topeka, KS as a Systems Accountant in June 2010. It was in Topeka, Kansas that she retired from her 35 year government career on June 7, 2013.

Janice’s hobbies included classic movies, crafts, shopping, and relaxing with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents: Russell Jerome Huston, Mary Gorham, Beatrice Huston; two sisters: Jacqueline Dickerson and Lillie Juanita Gorham; three brothers: Michael Gorham, and Kevin Gorham, Little Rusty; her son: Robert Alexander Kinney.  

She leaves to mourn her passing husband: Robert Stephen Kinney; two children: Elizabeth Renee  Huston(Dwight) Kansas City, MO and Seth Emanuel Kinney (Brichele), St. Joseph, MO; three grandchildren: Jazmine Minor, Jayde Minor, and Nathaniel Kinney; three sisters: Clarissa Huston(Tim), Cheryl Huston both of Marshall, MO, Cheryl Verden, California; two brothers: Rodney and Robert Gorham, both of Kansas City, MO; and brother-in-laws: Thomas Dickerson of Edwardsville, IL, Christian Kinney, James Kinney of Kansas City, MO; one sister-in-law: Courtney Kinney, Kansas City, Missouri; father and mother-in-law: Richard Crutchfield and Oweda Kinney-Crutchfield, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
