Jacqueline Jenkins Obituary

On October 26, 1942 Jack Jackson Walker and Maline Eleanor (Walls) Walker were blessed with the birth of Jacqueline Maline Walker.  Jacqueline Maline Jenkins passed away at Menorah Medical Center on Monday, November 11, 2019 in Overland Park, Kansas at the age of 77. 

Jacqueline was preceded in death by both parents; husband Ira Clarence Jenkins, son Ira Clifford Jenkins, brothers Donald Edwin Anderson and William Joseph Anderson, Mother-in-law Geraldine Short, Brothers-in-law Clifford Perry Jenkins and Donald Lawrence Jenkins.

In 1960 Jacqueline graduated from Independence High School in Independence, Kansas; receiving a scholarship in high voice to the KU School of Music at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas majoring in Music and Theory.      

On September 28, 1962, she was united in marriage 52 years to Ira Clarence Jenkins of Kansas City, Kansas.  They raised three children: Michael Wayne Harrison, Karen Annette Jenkins and Ira Clifford Jenkins.  

Jacqueline was a lifetime member of the Baptist church.  She grew up in Maple Street Baptist Church in Independence, Kansas.  In later years, she was a member of First Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church both of Blue Springs, Missouri.

  For several years, Jacqueline worked in apartment management.  Jacqueline started working for the Child Care Association, established in 1975.  She founded “Jenkins Clan” daycare in her home in the 70’s and worked until she became ill in October of 2016.  She worked 6:00 am to 6:00 pm providing care to children 6 months to 6 years and working with special needs children.  Jacqueline also served on the Board for Developmental Disabilities.  

    Jacqueline is survived by her brother Michael Byron Walker (Sharon) of Independence, Kansas, children Michael Wayne Harrison (Cheryl) of Overland Park, Kansas, Karen Annette Jenkins of Kansas City, Missouri, Samantha Dawn Gardner (Tyree Sr.) of Blue Springs, Missouri. Grandchildren, Jacqueline Janay Jenkins of Kansas City, Missouri, Christina Maline Harrison (Nichole) of Blue Springs, Missouri, Michael Joseph Harrison of Independence, Missouri; Rebecca Rayanne Jenkins-Rice of Mansfield, Ohio; Great grandson Silus Steven Jenkins-Rice of Mansfield, Ohio; Sisters-in-law Mollie Anita Cage, and Christine Lucinda Jenkins both of Kansas City, Missouri, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends including Ms. Bella, her canine companion.
