Henry was born in Turrell, Arkansas and later moved to Blytheville, Arkansas where he attended Nehemiah Temple Church of God in Christ. That is where he met his wife, Mary. They have been happily married for 61 years. While in Arkansas Henry and Mary welcomed two sons to the world, Henry Tyler, Jr., and Larry Tyler.
At a young age they then moved to Kansas City, MO where they were blessed with three more children, Vincent Tyler, Dominic Tyler, and granddaughter, Angela Tyler.
While in Kansas City Henry and his family attended Faith Mission Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Hubert Lambert. It was during his time at Faith Mission that Henry became a beloved deacon. Henry went on to attend Christian Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, then under the leadership of the late Bishop Emanuel Newton, Sr.
Henry was employed at Ford Motor Company and retired after 16 years of service. After retiring from Ford, Henry became the best handyman in town!
Henry built many lasting relationships with people that were more like family to him. You could always call on him to take care of anything you needed. So many people loved and respected “Chief” as many would call him. One thing you could count on when visiting the Tyler home was walking out with a sweet potato pie and a good laugh because Chief would always let you know, “Even Ray Charles could see that!” Henry was preceded in death by his son, Henry F. Tyler, Jr.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mary Tyler; sons, Larry Tyler, Vincent Tyler, and Dominic Tyler; granddaughter, Angela Tyler; grandson, Dominic “Junior” Tyler; godsons, Ronald Roland, and Preach Haynes; goddaughter, Tina Haynes Franklin; four brothers; three sisters; a loving niece, Hope Smith; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; along with Brian Tyler, Pierre Tyler, Gregory Sword, Michael Sword, and Wendy Sword; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
