Gregory Lewis Obituary

Gregory Lewis, 57, was called home to Our Lord and Savior September 11th, 2020. He was born May 8th, 1963 in Kansas City, MO to parents Theodore and Christine Smith. The youngest of 14 children, Gregory was raised to be a gentleman at all times and work hard to provide for his family.

Gregory attended Southwest High School in Kansas City, MO during the early stages of school integration. After school, he found his passion for repairing and detailing automobiles. Anything that had to do with cars, Gregory loved. Most importantly, he loved his family.

On July 29th, 2000, Gregory married Charmaine Jackson, the love of his life. From this marriage, a beautiful family of five sons and two daughters was established. Gregory loved being a husband for over 20 years and cherished his wife and children every day of his life. He often stated that his family was his world.

Gregory will be best remembered for his kindness and encouragement to everyone he interacted with. He was respectfully called “OG” by family and friends, even people he would meet in public. His calm and collected spirit made it easy for people to open up to him, not looking for advice, but just a listening ear.

Greeting him in heaven is his mother, Christine Lewis-Smith, father, Theodore Smith, four brothers, Christopher, Phillip, Paul, and Joseph Jr., three sisters, Roberta, Patricia, and Joella, and one grandson Jarron Jr.

Gregory leaves a legacy behind including his wife Charmaine, sons Christopher, Jarron, Gregory, Michael, and DaJuan, three daughters Shedrenna, Diamond Christine and Vincle, six brothers Jeff, Richard, Tony, Michael, Rickey, and Terry, mother-in-law Aldrenna Smith, father-in-laws Megrit Smith Sr. and Joseph Higgins Sr., and a host of brother and sister-in-laws, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones and friends.
