Erma Jean Porter affectionately known also as Jeannie, 57, was born July 12, 1962 to Richard Porter, Sr. and Betty Jean Hersey Porter. Erma was the third (3) of Five (5) children. She was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. Erma passed away quietly in her home on Wednesday May 27, 2020. She was proceeded in death by both her parents; sister, Bobbie Jean Porter Booker; nephews, Andreas Porter and Kenneth Booker Jr.; maternal grandfather Pydia Hersey; maternal grandmothers, Clara Lee Moore Newton, and Elizabeth Hersey.
She attended school in Kansas City Missouri School District graduating from Southeast High School Class of 1980. She loved to serve and work as a Certified Nurses Aid (CNA) for many years until her health begin to fail. She was a loving person and would give to anyone from her heart. She loved her children, grandchildren and her entire family "to life." We will miss her famous words such as "Ooookay!!" and "Stooooop It!!" She also had a love of music and shared it with her family.
She accepted Christ at an early age at the Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor H.C. Eason and Pastor John Modest Miles. She later joined the Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ under the late Bishop W.B. Henderson and Dr. Benjamin Stephens. She loved to attend church and she had a special love for Sunday school.
Leaving to cherish her memories: daughters, Brandy Nicole Summers of Kansas City, Missouri, Latasha Janine Nickerson of Elgin, South Carolina; son: George Anthony Porter (Kayla) Arlington, Texas; brothers, Richard, Jr., Kevin, and Steven Porter of Kansas City, sister, Shaya Woods (Kevin Sr) of Grandview, Missouri; Grandchildren, Micheal Neal III, Destiny Summers, Aaliyah Porter, DeSara'e Summers, Braden Nickerson, Amare Porter, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
