Eric A. Cook

Eric Alonzo Cook, 55, Passed away on September 14, 2020 at his home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He was born on December 19,1964 in Columbia, Missouri to John Herbert Gardner and Betty Joyce Cook. He lived in Mexico, Missouri and moved to Kansas City, Missouri in his childhood. He was baptized at an early age at Progressive Baptist church by Reverend A.M. Hudson Sr.

He gained a lifelong friendship with all his childhood friends from River Park and 39th St. Crew which he maintained up until his passing. This was and still is a closely bonded extended Family. He loved the 39th St. Crew.

He graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence, MO and later attended Job Corp in Excelsior Springs, MO. He was very athletic and medaled in Track and Field. Eric used his training and became quite the Handyman and could fix just about anything you asked. He also had a good hand at working on cars. All you had to do was give him a call and he was right there to help fix, haul or move whatever you needed.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Herbert Gardner.

He is survived by his mother, Betty (Cook) Smith; two sons, Alonzo Wells, and Eric Cook Jr.; four daughters, Ericka Cook, Destiny Taylor, Eboni Shelton, and Cire Oliver; three grandsons, and three granddaughters; two brothers, Travis Cook, and Stacy Smith; and one sister, Gina (Cook) Hopkins.
