Emma Holman Obituary

Emma Holman was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Henry and Ethel Tinsley. She attended public schools of Kansas City and graduated from Lincoln High School (now Lincoln Academy),
Class of ‘63. After graduating, Emma went on to attend cosmetology school in the city and began to build her clientele. Providing this service gave Emma great pleasure. In addition to this
work, Emma became a seasonal worker for the Internal Revenue Service and retired after more than 13 years.

Emma loved her church, Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, and always made an effort to be in attendance. In her earlier years, she sang in the choir and continued to keep up with what was going on at the church when she could no longer attend regularly. She joined the Metropolitan prayer line established after the onset of Covid-19, as well as the Nationwide Prayer Line. She also participated in a Thursday night Zoom mission meeting at the invitation of her dear friend, Gwendolyn Brewer. Emma endeavored to stay connected with like-minded
believers.

In addition to loving her church, she loved her family. She looked forward to spending time with any of her brothers and sister when they came for visits. Anybody who knew Emma knows how
much she loved her son. She was the kind of mother who tried to provide guidance, love, and a measure of discipline to establish a solid foundation for him.

Emma Tinsley Holman was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, OT Holman; and two brothers, Robert Tinsley and Frederick Washington.

Left to cherish her memory: her son, Caleb Holman, of the city; Two brothers, Ocie (Mattie) Tinsley of San Jose, CA and James Tinsley of the city; a sister, Margaret Exum (Tinsley), of
Columbus, GA. Two granddaughters, C'nya and Ky’shiai Holman of Dallas, Texas; and four nephews, Gary (Michelle) Tinsley, Michael Tinsley, Travis (Monica) Exum, and Trenton (Shelli)
Exum. She has a great-niece and grandnephews who loved her and will miss her dearly. We say farewell for now until we meet again.
