Elora Smith Obituary

Elora Jean (Goodwin) Smith, affectionately know as “Lora” was born on October 25, 1945. To the late James and Johnnie Goodwin. She was the seventh oldest of nine children. 
She was preceded in death by her husband Jemmie R.S. Smith Sr., grandson Ra’Quan L. Jordan, four sisters, Delores Jean Goodwin, Lucressia “June” Mebane, Dorothy (Goodwin) Mitchell, and Margie Jean Hughes (Goldman) and three brothers, William Leroy Goodwin, Buford Goodwin, and Jemmie Goodwin.
Elora was educated in the Kansas City Kansas Public School District. After graduating she met and married Levi L. Jordan in 1963. From that union four children were born. Pamela, Levi Jr. Lisa, and Brian. Levi precedes her in death as well.
Years later she met and married Jemmie R.S. Smith from that union Jemmie Jr. was born. Elora worked a few jobs before working at 
E.O.F. as a Head Start Teacher for 28 years before retiring. She loved her job it gave her great joy. 
Elora accepted Christ in 1975 at Pleasant Green Baptist Church. Upon leaving there years later she joined Metropolitan Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R.L. Baynham. She served on many boards in the church. Elora loved her church and church family.
Elora enjoyed traveling, playing Gin rummie, word puzzles, and gardening.  But most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Elora departed this life on May 29, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memory children Pamela Jordan Levi L. Jordan Jr (Linda), Lisa D. Walton (Leonard D. Sr), Brian Jordan and Jemmie R.S. Smith Jr. 
(Kim) her sister Theresa (Willie) Hall. Brother & Sister -N- Law Cecil and Dorothy Smith. Brother-N-Law Iry C. Mebane. Her nine grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren.
Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and most of all her closest friend, sister Annette Thompson.
Elora will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew her.
