On April 25, 2023 our beloved Husband, Father & Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend departed this world peacefully sleeping with his wife (as usual) at his side. Elmer Dean (Dexie) Dyer Jr. was the fourth child born to his parents Elmer D. Dyer Sr. and Adell Hayes-Dyer on January 7, 1936 in Kansas City, Mo. after attending the Kansas City, Kansas Public School District-he joined the United States Air Force for 4 years.
Dexie developed a passion ( a must have) for people and took on driving for the Kansas City Metro for 29 ½ years after the day was done you could find him gliding around town in one of his cool Cadillacs. Fishing with his friends Al and Beverly was something he looked forward to every year. Having known each other for over 40 years Elmer married Effie on December 30, 2017. They spent many wonderful times traveling to different places like Vegas for shows & shopping and Branson to see the latest Bible play. Sitting on the porch together with family was simply a joy. He cherished his conversations with neighbors Frazier, Famous, Steve, Jessie also their Dearest Friend Mother Green. He often said he had a good thing going with God, his passing wasn't a surprise he was preparing us and expressing concerned for his wife and family his last days. His was preceded into death by both parents, son Michael E. Dyer, sister Opal DeGraftenreed, brothers James Barnett and Roderick Dyer.
The memories of him will be cherished by his wife Effie Dyer (KCMO), daughter Harla Dyer, (ATL) sons Tony Dyer (KCMO), Brian Dyer (L VN), Glen Dyer (ATL), Bonus daughters Cynthia Graham (RMO), Doretha (Homer) Sharp (KCMO), Brenda (Eric) Williams (LSMO), sisters Shirley Gray (KCMO), Gloria Foster (STLMO), Shelia (Robert) Dyer, (KCMO), brothers Tracy (Sania) Dyer (KCK), Dwayne Dyer (KCK) and a host of Great grands, Grands, Nieces and Nephews. Church family and friends.
