Ellen Scott Obituary

Ellen Marie Scott, 74, departed this life on November 7, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family in Kansas City, Missouri.  She was born on April 25, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri to William Young, Sr., and Velma Lee Riley at General Hospital. Velma later married Oscar L. Brown, who fathered who fathered Ellen her entire life. 

She attended Central High School.  After high school, she became a Certified Nurses Assistant. 

Ellen was known to her Family as “Poochie” and professionally known as “Ms. Ellen.”  Poochie loved her family; everyone called her “Auntie” or “Grandma.”  She devoted her life to taking care of her family.  She married Ronald D. Scott in January of 1962.  They were married for 20 years.  They had one daughter, Rebecca L. Scott.  Poochie was the life of the party.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Young, Sr., Velma Lee Brown, and Oscar L. Brown; her husband, Ronald D. Scott; her older brother and sister, Larry Brown and Maple Lee Brown; and her grandsons, Rodney D. K. Peoples, Dominique Stafford and Arthur Stafford.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca L. Scott; her brother, William Young; two sisters, Cathy Young and Olivia Young; three grandchildren, Taquila Huff-Cooper (Terrall), Sherrill Tindall-Barrett (Franklin), and Rodre Lewis; eight great-grandchildren, Damareion and Daquiveion Hart, Sherraha, Cray and Cah’ray Williams, Dreyon , Madyson, and Makenzy Peoples; her niece, Regina Brown; her nephew, Willie Mosley, and a host of other relatives and friends.
