Elizabeth Marie Lark, known affectionately as Marie, of Kansas City, Missouri, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence, Missouri. She was 63 years old, born on December 21, 1960.
Marie lived a life defined by boundless love and a carefree spirit. Her warmth and generosity touched countless lives, and her vibrant energy was contagious to all who knew her. She found joy in the company of friends and neighbors, and her passion for serving others was evident in everything she did.
From an early age, Marie dedicated herself to her faith, embracing the teachings of Christ. She was a devoted member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kansas City, under the guidance of Reverend Glen Connoley. After graduating from East High School in the Class of 1979, Marie served her country proudly in the U.S. Navy before embarking on a career with the U.S. Post Office, where she made lasting connections with colleagues and customers alike.
Marie is survived by her cherished daughters, Barbara Lark-Weddington (Griouard) and Angel (Eugene) Cox, as well as her loving sister, Carolyn Boyd. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness in the hearts of her grandchildren, Khari Westbrook and Ayla Westbrook, and nephews Terrence Thompson, Lawrence Boyd III, and Leland Boyd.
She held a special bond with Lawrence Boyd Jr., whom she regarded as a brother. Among those mourning her loss are her dear friends and neighbors Lenore Robinson, Mikeycia Griswold, Bironeisha Robinson, and Rafeasia Kirkland, Ebony Washington and Ruby Bruce. Marie was preceded in death by both of her parents, as well as her infant son, Michael Keeling, and her brother, Michael Beasley and good friend Elizabeth Bruce.
Marie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
