Edwin C. Hill Sr. (Boy Baby) was born on November 28, 1937. He departed this life on January 20, 2023 and he was preceded in death by his parents Clifford B Hill Sr. (C.B) Lois Jean Hill, a sister Alice Bazzle (Bonnie) and his grandson Desmond M. Gray. Edwin was born in Kansas City, Missouri and he received his education in the Kansas City, Missouri Public school system. He graduated from Manual High School in 1956. On September 30, 1957 Edwin and Barbara were united in holy matrimony. Three children were born to this union. In his early years Edwin was employed at General Motors as an assembly line worker and union representative. He was a hardworking entrepreneur as he started several successful business, Hill’s House and Window Cleaning and Shur Clean Plus to support his family. In 1979, Edwin accepted the calling by God to spread the Gospel and he was ordained on July 20, 1980 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, by Reverend Edward Brown. After serving as assistant pastors for several years, in 1993 he accepted the pastoral position at First Baptist Church in Bonner Springs, Kansas. After leaving this position as pastor Edwin thought he would just live out his days in retirement. However, little did he know God still had work for him to do. In 2000 he accepted the position as pastor of Central Christian Church where he served until he again retired in 2010. Edwin was never one to sit still for long, so he took a position at LINC as a chess instructor teaching grade school children in 2011. He did this until his health failed and COVID arrived in 2020. Edwin always spoke about how much he missed working with his kids.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 65 years Barbara, a daughter Melanie Austin, four sons, Edwin C. Hill Jr. (Regina) of St. Charles, Missouri, Gordon L. Hill, Eric Moten (N’Tayla) Atlanta, Georgia, Kirk Moten ( Florinda) of Atlanta, Georgia. Two grandsons, Sheldon Moten and Steven A. Austin. One brother Clifford Hill Jr.(Evelyn) Shawnee Mission, Kansas two sisters Evelyn Lee and Elnora Hill. Three brother in-law Clarence Powell, James Powell, William Powell and one sister in-law Joanna Johnson all of the city. Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
