Edward Ronald Thomas [Ron] 76, was born on September 7, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Andrew John King and Mildred C. Pleasant-Thomas. Ron departed this life on November 19, 2020. He is preceded in death by both parents, eight siblings: John Thomas, Charles Thomas, Mary Burnham, Peggy Tatum, Ricardo Thomas Sr., Pearline Davis, Floyd Thomas Sr., Norma Jean Green; and one grandson, Er-Reon Little.
Ron received his education in the Kansas City, Missouri school district attending Lincoln High School Class of 1962.
Ron was a lifelong resident who accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized as a young man at Good Shepherd Spiritual Church under the leadership of Rev. Mother Teresa Davis.
Ron joined the Greater Kansas City Laborers Union local 264 division in 1968. He remained a member there for 20 years. He founded “Ron Thomas Construction” in 1972 where he began to establish his own business in masonry finishing. His career spanned over 48 years. During his tenure he was able to expand the business employing family, friends and anyone who was willing to put in the hard work. Those who worked for him and alongside him witnessed up close and personal what is required to sustain a successful company. “Ron Thomas Construction” had a great reputation for creating impeccable designs that can be seen and admired throughout the metropolitan area for many years to come.
Ron was a true lover of sports. He was a Golden Glove boxing champion. He enjoyed bowling and playing tennis. He watched sports networks faithfully. He was very passionate about football sometimes losing his cool while watching. He was a diehard fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and he supported them since 1969. The Chiefs winning the 2020 Super Bowl championship was a true dream come true. Just imagine him cheering and watching them play football from heaven...
Ron’s dedication and devotion to his family was unmatched. He leaves to cherish his memories, his three sons, Ronnell Thomas [Dallas, TX], Brandon Taylor, and Tyron Thomas of Kansas City, MO; four daughters, Reggi, Shar-Ron Thomas of Kansas City, MO, Latrice Bandy [Dallas, TX], and Tia Thomas of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Anicia Thomas, Ronyce Thomas and Anthony Dozier Jr. of Kansas City, MO; one sister Jo-Ella Ealy of Kansas City, MO, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends he held close to his heart.
