Edward Keith Heard, was born to the late Eddie Pace Jr. and the late Elizabeth Heard-Scott in Buffalo, New York on August 17, 1948. In the early morning of November 18, 2021, he entered the sunset of his life after a brief illness.
Ricky, as he was affectionately called by friends and family, received his high school diploma from Burgard Vocational in 1965. Shortly thereafter he joined the military, enlisting in the United States Navy. During his 4-year tenure in the Navy, he saw combat in the Vietnam War. Because of his heroism and injuries received in the war, he was awarded both the Purple heart and the Medal of Honor. In 1979 he left Buffalo with his brother Eddie and moved to Dallas where he began working in the construction industry. His construction job eventually brought him to Missouri where in a short time he took up permanent residence. Within a few years, he landed a job at Wonder Bread where he spent over 20 years until his retirement. Not only was he a devoted father of 5 daughters, he was a devoted husband to his wife, Cynthia Heard, to whom he wed in 1992 and celebrated 28 years of Love. In addition to his love of his family he also loved the Lord. He obtained his ministers license and dedicated his life to New Home COGIC where he served as Assistant Minister on the roster until his sunset.
Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Scott; sisters, Sheila Rivers; Marchita "Penny" Williams; his sister-in-law, Ruth Heard; and his daughter, Lisha Davis (Antonio).
He is survived by his stepmother, Mable Pace; brothers, Tyrone Heard (Ruth), Eddie Pace (Linda), Gregory Scott, and Emmanuel Pace (Michelle); sisters, Patricia Koonce, Terry Iverson, Selena McBride, Linda Worthy (Stanley), Rostia Scott, Lonez Jackson, Lolita Shorter, and Mona Scott; 4 daughters, Satina Matthews, Lacresal Morton, Tranell Morton, and Edcinda Heard; 7 grandchildren, Jocelyn Trotter, Jamesha Nance, Leigha McDougald, Jaylen Powell, Antonio Davis Jr., Jalea Nance, and Autumn Davis; and (1) great-grandchild, Malia Brown; and a host nephews, nieces, and family members.
