Dwight James Penn, 51, passed away on April 19, 2021 at CenterPoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. He was born on May 7, 1969 to Ambrose Penn Jr and Judy Briscoe. Dwight grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Ruskin High School in Kansas City, MO.
Although Dwight did not have an official church home, he would occasionally attend services with his family at Willis Chapel AME Church and Edwardsville Temple COGIC. Dwight would also attend Monday night men's bible study.
Dwight was employed with the Kansas City Star as a supervisor and later as a TSA agent at the Kansas City International (KCI) Airport. He enjoyed working on home improvement projects.
A devoted son, brother, uncle and friend, Dwight enjoyed sports, movies, art, video games, good food and good music. He loved to cook, and barbecuing (BBQ) was his passion. He also had fun times fishing with his friends and cousins. Dwight was skilled at playing fantasy football and has won several trophies,
Dwight was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ruth Penn and Ambrose Penn Sr, and his maternal grandfather, Truman Williams.
He is survived by his mother Judy (Curtis) Briscoe, father Ambrose Penn Jr., grandmother Jeanette L. Smith, sister Nykita Penn and his nephew Jordan Penn. Dwight was blessed with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends whom he loved dearly.
