Derek Martin Obituary

Derek A. Martin was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 27, 1976, to Harriet K. Martin and MacArthur Seaton. Both parents preceded him in passing.

Derek, lovingly known as “BB” or “Boomer” accepted Christ at a young age.

“BB” attended Wendell Phillips Elementary School, Kansas City, Missouri. Next, he attended Northeast Middle School. Then went on to attend Northeast, Central, and Southeast High and Fairview Alternative School. He obtained his GED while incarcerated. He went on to continue his education in Culinary where he completed the requirements needed to become a Chef! And boy could he cook! Of course, a talent passed down by his late mother. "BB" was caregiver at Caring Hands & Hearts of Kansas City and absolutely loved what he did and would always go the extra mile for his clients!

Derek (“BB”) deeply loved his children, Derek Jr., and Malani. He loved being around family, friends, cooking, BBQ’n, fishing, spending quality time with his children and wearing fresh clean new pairs of tennis shoes. He LOVED the smell of a brand-new pair of tennis shoes! His presence will be greatly missed by all who loved him, as he was loved by so many!

Always remember when we truly trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior, the Word of God promised us according to II Corinthians 5:8 (NKJV), "we are confident rather to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".

“BB” leaves to mourn his son, Derek A. Martin Jr., daughter, Malani K. Martin, Life Partner Teresa Woods, of Kansas City, MO., Sister Brittany E. Martin, of Kansas City, MO., Brother MacArthur Woods, of Kansas City, MO., now living in Arizona, Brother Ronnell Escoe, (incarcerated) and a sibling who preceded him in death, DeAndre Woods.

He also leaves to mourn, Uncles, Aunts, a multitude of Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Classmates, and Co-Workers. YOU WILL BE DEEPLY AND GREATLY MISSED “BB”!! FLY HIGH!!
