Christine “Ledell” Thomas was born September 5, 1946 to Henry and Mary Thomas in Yazoo City, Mississippi. She was the third of 4 daughters born to this union. Christine was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Claudine Johnson, Ruth Thomas and Barbara Jean Thomas; brother Michael Thomas; her only son Sedrick Thomas; daughter Denise Thomas; nephews Joe Fountain, Ron Johnson, Dion Brown, Erick Herron, Christopher Johnson and niece Shirley Johnson.
In 1963, Christine’s family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. In 1964 she graduated from Manual High School. She worked for Trinity Lutheran Hospital, Kent Investment Company and the Department of Corrections, Jackson County Missouri where she retired after 28 years of dedicated service.
Christine loved to socialize at the casino, never meeting a stranger. She really enjoyed working in her yard. Her perfection for planted flowers, grass height and trimmed trees was unmatched. Many days she stayed in her yard all day and her heart would be full! She loved taking care of kids. She loved seeing them grow up, playing tag, calling them names and hugging and kissing them daily. Christine also loved talking on the phone all the time, all day to everyone about everything, especially politics! She was such a giving person willing to help anyone as much as she could. Truly a force to be reckoned with. She would tell you like it is and tell you she loved you in the same breath. She will be greatly missed.
