Charlene Webb Obituary

Mother Charlene (Scott) Webb, 82, was born April 21st, 1938 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.  She was born into the union of the late Henry and Irene (Sorrells) Scott.  Charlene was the tenth child, and the fourth oldest daughter of eight sisters, and seven brothers.  Prior to her death she was one of the last four living siblings.  Coming from a big family she was preceded in death by both of her parents, eleven siblings: Johnny Scott, Henry Scott Jr., Frank Scott, Alonzo Scott, Elder Alma Scott, Lorean Randolph, Florean King, Merlene Sutherlin, Roselene Crutchfield-Mathews, Darlene McDaniel, and Robert Scott.  One daughter Paula Wynn, two stepdaughters; Joyce Webb, and Linda Webb, and two grandchildren; Dylon Webb and Summer Sanders.

Growing up in her early years, Mother Webb and her family moved quite often, as her father was a sharecropper.  She lived in various areas across the state of Arkansas.  Once living in Eastern, Oklahoma, and Tucson, Arizona before moving to Edwardsville, Kansas at the age of thirteen in the spring of 1951, where she received her formal education.  Only staying in Edwardsville, Kansas for a couple of years, Mother Webb and her family moved back to Little Rock, Arkansas for a short time.

On June 20th, 1954 Charlene married Calvin Wynn in Benton, Arkansas.  To this union of marriage five children were born: Doctor Ivan, Stephanie, Martha Ann, Paula, and Theresa.   All of whom were born in Kansas City, Missouri.  Later this marriage was dissolved.

In the early 1960’s Charlene met the love of her life, Albert Webb Sr. in Kansas City, Missouri.  The two later united in holy matrimony on February 11th in 1967.  To this union of marriage seven children were born: Patricia, Alma Jean, Amanda, Tressia, Albert Jr., Maurice, and Jamal Sr.  In addition to this union of marriage, Mother Webb was blessed with three stepdaughters that she loved as her own, Carolyn, Joyce, and Linda Webb.

Mother Webb confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, and she genuinely loved the Lord and has always honored Him first.  She received the Holy Spirit at Wright’s Temple Church of God in Christ, in Kansas City, Missouri.  She was one of the early members of Gethsemane Church of God in Christ since it’s conception in November 1966, under the leadership of her brother and pastor, the late Superintendent Elder A.L. Scott, and later under the leadership of her great nephew, Elder Daryl Randolph Sr.  Mother Webb was highly active in her church throughout the years.  She served faithfully on The Mother’s Board, she was a diligent bible study student, served on the Deaconess Board and sang with the Jubilee and Deliverance choirs.

Mother Webb retired from BMA with twenty-eight years of services.  She loved to travel and go on cruises.  She adored her family, neighborhood friends, and church family.  Her all-time favorite was cooking for her loved ones.  She was known for her famous homemade peach cobbler and many other dishes which she made from scratch.

Mother Webb lived with her family in her home for fifty-two years in the 3700 block of Benton Blvd.  She was extremely popular, and affectionally known as “The Queen of Benton”

Mother Charlene Webb received her wings and departed to her Heavenly home on Saturday, May 30th, 2020 at her home surrounded by family.  For all who loved Mother Webb she will truly be missed.
