Charlene Dilwood, 90, of Kansas City, Mo., gained her heavenly wings on Thursday, July 8, 2021. She was born on September 10, 1930, to Cora and Tony Lawson II, in Snyder, Oklahoma. She and her 8 siblings lost their parents at a very young age. She grew up at the Deaf Blind Orphanage (DB&O) in Taft, Oklahoma.
She was married to Kenneth Dilwood for 61 years and had 6 daughters, whom she adored. She was a member of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church for 43 years. Family and faith were important to her. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life.
She was classy, graceful, and always spoke truth - softened by love. She was the family matriarch and ensured her family was built on a solid foundation. She loved family gatherings, traveling with family and sewing. She was full of wisdom and remained “feisty” until God called her home.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Brenda Hughes, grandson Damar West and great grandson DeJuan Williams. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Dilwood and five daughters, Patricia Lounce, Cynthia West-Pauley, Pamela Bunn, Cherie West and Courtney Shephard.
Due to COVID-19, please respect social distancing and face covering guidelines. Temperature checks will be enforced.
