A GIFT IS COMING, A GIFT IS COMING!!!
Early Christmas morning, December 25, 1968, at 8:10am, God bestowed the most precious gift, a beautiful baby girl, 5lbs. & 2 ½ oz & 17 ½ inches long, a bundle of joy to, Donald & Delores Jackson.
Chanita accepted Christ at an early age & was baptized. Our favorite neighbor, James “Brother” Riley lovingly nicknamed her, Winkie. She attended Ladd Elementary, Bingham Junior High, and graduated from Southwest High School. While at Southwest, Chanita was the captain of the cheerleader squad. She was popular & loved by all who knew her. Chanita stayed dressed to impress & her hair was always fly.
Chanita loved her years in majorette with the Zellanette’s Drill Team. She was so talented in dance that she was in advanced classes with the Moten Dance Co.
Later, Chanita continued her higher education at Phoenix University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
On May 15, 1992, she married the love of her life, LaMar Roebuck. They enjoyed their lives together. All 31 years, 4 months, & 15 days was a never-ending honeymoon. The family was made complete when they received their own bundle of joy, BO!!! Yes, their dog!
She loved reading, camping, & enjoying time with her immediate family.
Chanita was employed by the Housing Authority of Kansas City for 22 years. When God closes one door, He opens another, and it was with Synchrony Financial. For 7 years she enjoyed going to work & having so much fun with her co-workers.
Chanita is preceded in death by: her maternal grandparents, Lafayette Sr. & Juanita Broughton; uncle, Lafayette Broughton, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Willie & Georgia Jackson; her 2 fathers-in-law, Paul Roebuck, Sr., and Wayman Weston.
