Bishop Erick E. Vassol was born October 22, 1957 in Kansas City, MO to the parents of the late Dan and Rosemary Vassol. He was reared and educated in Kansas City, MO.
When he was 17 years old, Bishop Vassol enlisted in the United States Army. He received an honorable discharge and returned to Kansas City, MO to pursue his passion for truck driving.
In 1984 he married Elverta L Carter. Bishop Vassol preached his first sermon December 31, 1989 at Love United Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO where his father Dan Vassol, Sr. was the pastor. Bishop Vassol attended Manhattan Christian College in Manhattan KS where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Bible pastoral ministry and a Bachelor of Science in Theology. Bishop Vassol submitted to the leadership of Bishop Clarence R Williams, Jr. and Lady Wanda Williams of Living Word of Christ Church in Salina, KS and served diligently as chief armor barrier and in many other areas of ministry. During that time, he was asked to be the interim pastor of First Church of God in Manhattan KS. He served there diligently for approximately 2 years. After his tenure at First Church of God, he returned to serve again under the leadership of Bishop Clarence R. Williams, Jr. and Lady Wanda Williams. As Living Word of Christ Church grew, he was instrumental in the painting and carpentry of the new edifices located currently at 1704 St. Mary's Rd Junction City KS. In early 2002 Bishop Vassol was asked to serve as assistant pastor to his father, Pastor Dan Vassol, Sr. in Kansas City, MO at Love United Missionary Baptist Church. In November 2003 he continued to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and started Living Word of Christ Fellowship Ministry with his wife children and brother. They met in the Jefferson place apartments community room serving the community and reaching out to the many children that lived in the neighborhood. After reaching capacity, a facility was identified that would provide classrooms sanctuary and ample parking.
In 2006 Bishop Vassol was diagnosed with stage 3B colon cancer when he was given a 5-year cure rate. After surgery and several rounds of chemotherapy, Bishop Vassol was healed and lived for an additional 16 years.
Bishop Erick E. Vassol is survived by his wife Dr. Elverta Vassol and seven adult children aged 30 to 44 years old and 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
