Barbara Lunn Obituary

“I fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.” John 14:27

Barbara Ann Lunn was born on March 2, 1948, the daughter of Allison Vick, Sr., and Catherine Patterson. Her parents; sister, Delores Brockman; brother, Allison Vick, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Victoria Boston; and paternal grandfather, Olie Patterson, preceded her in death.

She was educated in Kansas City Missouri public schools. She graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of Missouri in 1984, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing.

She professed her faith and love of Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a Christian, faithful and active member of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Wallace Hartsfield, Sr.

She loved gospel music, she started singing a music group with her three daughters, Tonia, Patricia, and Yulanda Lunn, known as, the Lunn Sisters. As their manager for sixteen years, she traveled different parts of the country. Under her leadership they received many awards and accolades. They have sung in many churches with well-known gospel and recording artists. They recorded their first record titled, Jesus Didn’t Know You Were That Kind of Friend.

On July 1, 1963, she united in marriage to Vernon Lunn, Sr. To this union three daughters and one son were born. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother, one who always put the interests of her family first, who saw to it that her children were given the best she could provide, in loving care, spiritual nourishment, and material comforts. The example she lived day by day will ever be a goal for her family to strive to reach. Her love and influence will continue through the lives and deeds of those she touched and whom she loved dearly.

Barbara retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 18 years of service on, March 28, 2013. Barbara and her husband were owners of Lunn African Art Business. She imported African Art and Apparels to sell in the retail shop. She operated this business for 16 years.

When her mother passed, she had a difficult time getting over the loss. To help ease the pain, she wrote a book titled, “Who Can Make A Dying Bed.” It was her intentions to help others cope as they were going through a traumatic loss.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Vernon Lunn, Sr.; three daughters, Patricia Ann Lunn, Tonia Lunn Wade of Kansas City, Kansas, and Yulanda Lunn, one son, Vernon Lunn, Jr. of Lee’s Summit, MO; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
