Mrs. Azalee Gamble was born on August 21, 1923, in Sun Flower, Mississippi to the union of Cecil and Girlee Moore,
Azalee was a member of Palestine Baptist Church. At the time she joined the church, it was under the leadership of Pastor Earl Able. She was a member of the Senior Choir, and the Mission. She remained a member until her passing. Azalee was also a member of the Kansas City Evangelistic Gospel Singers under the leadership of Mr. Clyde Norris and Willa Mae Manning,
Azalee retired from St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri where she worked for 35 years. She also worked for the B & G Maintenance Company for 16 years.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Cleo Matthews, who preceded her in death. To this union, one child was born: her daughter, JoAnne. Many years later, she married T.J. Davis in Holy Matrimony. No children were born to this union. He preceded her in death. Years later, she married Carl Gamble who also preceded her in death. No children were born to this union. They were happily married for 22 years.
Preceding her in death is her father, Cecil Moore; her mother, Girlee Butler; her sisters, Corine Moore, and Doris McNeese-Butler; and her brothers, Robert Moore, and William Moore.
Azalee departed this life at her home on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 12:10pm with her daughter by her side. To mourn her passing and cherish her memory, she leaves her daughter, JoAnne Peacock of the home; granddaughter, Tracye Hammons of East St. Louis. Il; her brothers, Clifton Turner of Ruville Mississippi, Lindsey Hudson of Chicago, IL; her niece, Beatrice Tayler; god-daughter, Bonnie Haywood, and a host of other family and friends.
