Apostle Marvin Williams Obituary

A famous writer once said, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”  If that is true, then Apostle Marvin Eugene Williams made a good life – an example of a selfless servant, sharing his life with those God assigned him to both impact and love. He was born on December 9, 1955, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. He was the fourth child of the now late L.G. and Dorothy (Blagburn) Williams who lived in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by both of his mother, father, and brother Keith Williams.

Growing up, Apostle Marvin Williams attended Longfellow Elementary School, then Westport High School (1974) where he graduated to later attend Vo Tech. Here is where he found his passion for welding and completed his degree in this field. After completing his degree, he went to work for Kenworth Dart as a professional welder. He was so talented, that he later expanded his trade skills into remodeling as an apprentice under a gentleman by the name of Mr. Wallace. Later, he joined his family business ‘W&L Excavating’ (Kansas City, MO) for several years. After acquiring the necessary skills, he became an entrepreneur, starting MEW, a remodeling and construction company in the Hartford area (Windsor), CT after relocating there in 1996.

Marvin grew up with Christian roots in a large loving family where he attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James Williams. There Marvin accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of his life at an early age. Even as a youth, Marvin loved music and sang in the church choir. As an adult, he faithfully served and accepted his call to ministry in 1984, at the same church under the leadership of the late Rev. Lee Freeman, Sr. as Associate Pastor for seven years. Later, he also served as ‘home support group leader’ and several other ministry service capacities at Lenexa Christian Center (Lenexa, KS) under the leadership of Pastor Mike Purkey for three years before relocating to Connecticut.

In 1985, Marvin found love when meeting and marrying the love of his life, Yvette (Adair) Williams and they were married (June 8, 1991) recently celebrating 30 years of marriage. Marvin brought one beautiful daughter, Marcelete, to his union to with Yvette and later he was blessed with a second beautiful daughter, Ruth. In 2000, the family moved to Windsor, Connecticut where they served faithfully in pastoral leadership as founders and co-pastors of Lifeline Christian Ministries for 20 years. In addition, Apostle Williams founded the ‘Pastors and Leaders Roundtable’, a meeting of leaders and business owners in the Hartford region.

In 2006, Pastor Marvin Williams, encountered his spiritual father, Apostle Dr. Reginald Wilson (Fulfilling the Gospel Ministries International, Marrero, LA), who recognized the ‘apostolic’ grace and calling on his life. He ordained him with the spiritual mantle of ‘Apostle’ in September 2010. Under the ministry and leadership of Apostle Wilson, he continued his ministry but expanding into the works of community service. Laboring together with Pastor Yvette in the Hartford area, they both worked in the church and outside its walls teaching, training and equipping God’s people for ministry. In January 2020, after much prayer and deliberation, through the Lord’s direction Apostle Marvin and Pastor Yvette Williams felt led to return to their roots in the Kansas City metropolitan area, submitting their ministry to Apostle Raymond Mabion at Bethlehem Kingdom Center (Kansas City, MO).

If you knew Marvin, then you know he always had a smile and an encouraging word for everyone he met. He was a joy to be around, fun-loving, encouraging and always looking out for others. He enjoyed basketball, roller skating, dancing, music, singing/songwriting, cooking/bar-b-queuing, fishing, the Oklahoma rodeo, along with the peace and serenity of the ocean. Out of all his passions, all paled in comparison to his love for the Lord/passion to serve and his great love for his family – which he held dear to his heart. In short, he will always be remembered as a man, impacting others with his devotion, integrity, love, compassion, service, and humor.

Apostle Williams, 66, transitioned from labor to reward on January 6, 2022, at Advent Health Hospital, Shawnee Mission, Kansas. To cherish his memory, he leaves: his best friend and wife, Yvette Williams; his daughters, Marcelete (Jason) Tillman and Ruth Williams; three brothers: Lemuel (Vashi) Williams, Earl Williams, Kenneth (Carla) Williams; two sisters: Karen Williams and Diane (Arnold) Singleton; three sisters-in-love: Janielle (Larry) Ferguson, Adoria Adair, and Almeree Justice; nieces, and nephews: Lemuel Williams III, TaShonna (Charles) Bonner, Brandi (Cornelius) Turner, LeRon Williams,  Darien Williams, Christian (Maddie) Wright,  Daniel Williams, Timothy Williams, Matthew (Chrystal) Ferguson, Alora Ferguson, MJ Ferguson, Roman Ferguson, Evan Ferguson, Avery (Lauren) Adair, Nicole Justice, Ryan Justice; special aunt: Alleze Westbrooks (Denver, CO); close relatives, as well as, a host of special cousins, his Bethlehem Kingdom Center family, former parishioners of Lifeline Christian Ministries (Hartford, CT), fellow clergy and friends.
