Adrea Yvonne Burns, 49, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on April 15, 2023, in Casa Grande, AZ.
Adrea Yvonne Burns was born In Kansas City, Missouri to Gregory Trenton Burns and Earsaline McDowell on September 7, 1973. She graduated from high school at Westport High School, at the age of 19 she became a mother to Deron Peterson and worked as a customer service representative at AT&T. Years later at the age of 27 she would introduce another beautiful son, Christopher "Big Yella" Goodwin. Adrea was a long-standing employee of the Jackson Court System as a Juvenile Detention Officer. In 2011 she discovered she had stage 4 breast cancer. Cancer did not hold her back. She began to work from home as a Property Manager for Randy's Construction where she would be employed until 2016 where she went to become a First Transit driver for Independence, MO. Years later she moved to Casa Grande, AZ with her son Chris, mother Earsaline, and younger brother, Jason.
Adrea was known to many as a strong, loving, and caring woman. Her smile and laugh could be heard and seen across the room with her full head of natural hair she wore proudly. She enjoyed spending time playing cards, reading her bible, spending time with granny, and being a positive shoulder for so many people. Adrea will be remembered as a great mother, beautiful daughter, fierce older sister, disciplinary auntie, and all-around phenomenal woman. She left this world surrounded by family and friends.
Adrea Burns is preceded in death by her father, Gregory Burns, Sr.; grandmother, Imogene (Gillum) Burns; grandfather, Leonard Burns; grandmother, Jimmie Lee McDowell; grandfather, James Thurston Smith; great-grandfather, James Edward Parr; aunt, Odessa (McDowell) Parks; aunt, Gwendolyn (Burns) Shields; uncles, Rodney Burns, Leonardo Eugene Burns, Larry Burns, Eric Burns, and Lindley Burns; and niece, Robin Alford.
Adrea Burns is survived by her children, Deron Peterson, and Christopher Goodwin; siblings, Gregory Burns Jr., Agyeman "Jamie" Burns, Akil Burns, Akeem Burns, Agyeson "Jason" Burns, Bryan II Alford, Desirae White, Veronica Alford, and James Alford; mother, Earsaline (McDowell) (Burns) Alford; stepfather, Bryan Alford, Sr.; and a host of beloved family members and friends.
