Robert Wyane Nickens (Robbie) transitioned on October 2, 2019 at home in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born April 18, 1956 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to the union of Robert L. Nickens and Erma J. Nickens. He accepted Christ at a young age. Robbie was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri school district. He was one of the first honor roll students and Secretary of his class at Martin Luther King Jr School. Robbie worked for DST and the Kansas City Library.
Robbie was a member at Second Baptist Church and played the bass guitar. Robbie was an extremely gifted and talented, self-taught bassist. He played bass for several groups, bands and choirs, the first being the “Bethel Wonders”.
Other band and choir groups he played for were: “Max Groove”, “Excape Goats” “These are They”, “Mood Swings”, “BCR” and “Flip Side”. One of the most recent groups he played with to do a live recording was with “Metro Praise” for the up and coming new internet TV show “Sound Check Live”.
He was preceded in death by his brother (Stephen A Nickens). Robbie was survived by his dad and mom; Robert L. Nickens and Erma J. Nickens and his siblings; Rozena Lewis, Gregory Nickens, Tony Nickens (Maxine), Lita Davis (Jeffery), Matthew Nickens (Wanda), Narla Wallace (Marcus) and Christopher Nickens (Diane).
