Melvin Brown, 69, passed away on September 28, 2019 at Saint Lukes Hospice House in Kansas City Missouri surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 6, 1950 in Hayti, Missouri to Tannie Brown and Carrie Lee Brown. He grew up in Hayti, Missouri.
He graduated from Central High school in Hayti, Missouri. He began work for A-1 as a mechanic where he worked for 50 years. He was a Deacon at Hosanna Missionary Baptist Church until his health started failing. He has certificates of training in Custodial Services, Floor Care, Window Care, and Carpet Care.
He married Royce PA Mahone-Brown on September 28, 1991 in Kansas City Missouri. They were happily married for 18 years until her death on March 3, 2009. There were no children born to that union, but they raised two of his great, great, great nieces Tashae Brown, Talisha Brown, and one great, great, niece Mahogany Brown. He later met and married Joyce Porter on July 15, 2015 in Kansas City Missouri.
He was preceded in death by both parents Tannie Brown and Carrie Lee Brown-Ragsdale, his first wife Royce Brown, two brothers Johnnie Frank Brown and George Brown, three sisters Mozelle Adams, Sarah Artis, and Dyane Oliver.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Porter of Kansas City, Missouri, thirteen children Dawnyea Lumpkin of Omaha, Nebraska, six sisters Ella Hysaw of Denver, Colorado, Kay (John) Brown, Faye Buckley (Billy), Opal Freeman, Louise Yancy and Shirley Williams all of Kansas City Missouri; nineteen grandchildren, and host of other relatives and friends.
