James Kelton Phillips, 49, passed away on July 25, 2019 at KC Care Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on September 24, 1969 to the union of James Phillips and Maxine Roberta (Hunt) Phillips. His father James Phillips and sister, Trisha Phillips proceed him in death.
James or Kelton as he was known by his family and close friends, graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended DeVry University, where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked many jobs at different companies from Sun Fresh, Milgram's, and Bellefontaine to name a few.
Kelton was a traveler who did not like to sit still or in one place for too long. His heart yearned for the open road and places not yet traveled. Kelton has been to the states of Arizona, California, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New York, and Washington. And those are just a few we know about. He always had a story about his travels and loved to share his stories to anyone who had the time to listen. He always had a smile on his face and loved working with his hands while listening to his favorite rapper, Tupac.
Kelton leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Maxine (Hunt) Phillips; five sisters, Carla Hunt, Dana Hunt, Cynthia Phillips (Lionel Hamilton-Bey), Janet Anderson (Larry) all from Kansas City, Missouri and Jamie Phillips of Minnesota; two brothers, Kevin Phillips of Kansas City, Missouri and Gary Philips of Oklahoma. He also leaves to cherish his memory numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
